Crippled By Multitasking

Smart phones, computers, email, Facebook, Twitter, and so many other distractions have made our attention spans shorter than ever and because of it we chronically multitask.

Multitasking makes you worse at all of the tasks you are performing while multitasking. You are not alone, I have to fight myself from doing it every single day.

If you are not sure if you have a multitasking problem try going 15 minutes with total focus on one thing, one task for instance. It can actually be quite hard and its killing businesses. Their people are becoming more and more scattered.

The good news is you can fix it but it takes concentration. You have to be deliberate about it. Set aside a time block, start small, 10 or 15 minutes and focus on that one task, nothing else allowed. Don’t allow your mind to wander just total focus on that one thing.

The first thing you will notice initially is your mind desires to want to wander onto other things. It’s what we have trained our minds to do and now we need to re-train our minds to focus on one task for as long as we tell it.

Once you can get this time to 1 to 2 hours you are on your way to mastery. When you set your mind to do one thing for 2 hours and nothing else you will be surprised how much you can get done in that time frame. You will also realize how much you weren’t getting done before when multitasking.

Now begin planning your day, week and even month around your most important tasks, focus on them in time blocks and get them done.

No multitasking allowed.

This one activity requires you to train yourself, more so un-train yourself to get the maximum out of everything you do.

To your lifelong prosperity,
