Understanding Lead Generation

Leads – you must create an endless supply of qualified leads.

Generating leads, aka list building, is the most essential thing you will do in business because your list becomes your most important asset. No matter what happens in business, you will always own your list and this is where the bulk of your business will be generated. When I say your list, I am referring to you owning the name and e-mail address of your prospects. When I say “owning” what I mean is that that person has given you permission to e-mail them.

If someone comes to my website and I offer them a free product or service in exchange for their name and e-mail address they are authorizing me to send them e-mail. If after receiving a series of e-mails they do not want to receive any more e-mails they have the option to opt out.

Let’s face it, things change. That company that promises to get you to page one of Google for ten grand might do a great job for now but 90 days from now Google can change their algorithms and you are back to page 30, or worse. It happens every day. Years back I remember when reciprocal links were the way to move to the top of Google. If you did it wrong you got blacklisted and this happened to many, including BMW. The same goes with social media, pay per click, Youtube, referrals, bidding, or any other new-fangled way to generate traffic. All of these can change in a moment and if you become dependent on any of them you are headed for sure failure. Even Grant Cardone, with over 7 million followers on Facebook recently got throttled back by the geniuses at Facebook.

But your own list will be the most valuable asset you have.

Generating leads through your list is the most important thing you can do for long term growth and stability in business. This should be your number one focus in business.

To your lifelong prosperity,
